Comparing approaches
Which evidence answers your question?
A finished text, an editing history and a signed session record answer different questions. Choose the approach that provides the finding your process actually needs.
Understanding the approaches
Different questions call for different evidence.
Text analysis, revision history and a Creation Record examine different data. What matters is the claim you actually want to verify.
On narrow screens, scroll the comparison table horizontally.
| Approach | Evidence used | Binding to a file | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI detector | Statistical patterns in the analysed text; results depend on the model and method. | Refers to the text analysed. A signed binding to a specific file is not an inherent property of this category. | An estimate establishes neither the actual writing process nor with certainty whether AI was or was not used. |
| Revision history | Saved edits, timestamps and, where available, contributors within a writing platform. | Associates edits with a platform document. Export binding and access depend on the provider. | A history reveals changes, but establishes neither the origin of every idea nor activity outside the platform. |
| Creation Record | Signed statements about a recorded process, its signals and its explicitly stated limits. | A stored file hash can be compared with the document version presented. | A valid signature does not automatically establish the issuer’s identity, complete capture or the absence of AI. |
This table describes categories, not a ranking of individual providers. Scope, trust model and evidential value must be assessed for the specific method.
