Integrations & writing apps

Word, Moodle and your writing apps.

Keep writing in Word or your writing app. ExtraProof works alongside, binds the evidence to the finished file and, if you wish, passes both on to Moodle.

Integrations & writing apps

Alongside your tools, not instead of them.

ExtraProof does not replace a writing application. It records the permitted creation evidence alongside and delivers a verifiable record.

Writer app

Windows

Acceptance pending

A Windows implementation exists. Installation and Word use need acceptance in the specific environment before a pilot.

Word add-in

Microsoft Word

Planned for a pilot

Start a session in the Word sidebar, observe changes and bind the exported DOCX file to a signed record. You keep writing in Word.

Planned for a pilot

LTI 1.3 connection for submitting document and record, tested against a real Moodle environment with synthetic data. Teachers see the verification result in the course.

Verify

Browser verification

Usable in the browser

Verify records locally in the browser, also offline. No account, no installation, no upload.

We are looking for a pilot partner. “Planned for a pilot” describes an intended use, not an ongoing pilot. The suitability of each environment is checked before starting.

Alongside your document

ExtraProof in Microsoft Word.

The ExtraProof sidebar records the amount of existing text, observed changes and detected interruptions. Keep writing in your document. When you finish, receive the exported DOCX copy and its signed evidence.

  1. Set up in ExtraProof.

Open Plugins → Microsoft Word. The app guides you through the local connection and add-in setup.

  2. Start in Word.

Open the ExtraProof sidebar and deliberately start your session. Keep ExtraProof and the sidebar open while recording.

  3. Share the file and evidence.

Finish your session and use the provided DOCX copy together with its evidence. Saving the file again later can change its bytes.

The Word integration uses the local ExtraProof app on macOS.

Microsoft Word & Moodle

Submit the document and record directly to Moodle.

ExtraProof connects a writing session in Word with submission in Moodle. The document and record are submitted together. Teachers see the corresponding verification in the course.

  1. 01

    Open the Moodle activity.

Students open the ExtraProof activity in their course and connect it to their Word session.

  2. 02

    Submit from Word.

After the session ends, ExtraProof shows the recipient, course and activity. Confirming submission sends the document and signed record together.

  3. 03

Review the result in the course.

Teachers see the submission and verification result. Moodle receives a separate “Record checked” status column.

The status shows whether the document and record match. Teachers retain responsibility for academic assessment; the verification column is kept separate from the academic grade.

For Moodle file submissions too.

The Creation Record feedback plugin adds verification to a Moodle assignment’s grading view. It checks the submitted document and record package on the Moodle server. Teachers can open the findings while reviewing the work.

ExtraProof connects to Moodle as an LTI 1.3 activity. The feedback plugin provides an additional route for existing file-submission assignments.

Writer on macOS and Windows.

On the Mac, Writer runs on macOS 14 or later and accompanies the writing app you choose. ExtraProof brings no writing area of its own.

Installation on Windows devices and the Word integration need acceptance in the specific environment before an evaluation.

Use Writer alongside other writing apps.

Select the app before starting a session. Ulysses, Apple Pages and TextEdit are listed in macOS app discovery; add other installed programs through “Choose another app”. A listed entry means app detection, not a dedicated document plugin.

Recording depends on the signals available from the selected app. Writer’s sensor status shows which signals are captured.

Check requirements

From document to verification result.

Moodle brings verification into the course. For other submission workflows, recipients can use Verify in their browser.

Moodle integration

The LTI activity receives the document and record from Word. Teachers can view the submission and verification result in the course.

Verify in the browser

Recipients verify supported ExtraProof PDFs and JSON records locally and optionally compare the document file. They do not need to install the writing app.

Verify evidence

Your systems & API

The documented record contract and synthetic test data support your own verification workflows. API, SDK and institutional connections are agreed for your specific system.
